Dissecting the Tweet – Perron Says Goodbye to Edmonton

General Manager Jim Rutherford and the Penguins made quite a splash this morning by acquiring David Perron from Edmonton for a 1st round pick in 2015 and Rob Klinkhammer. My thoughts on the trade are pretty simple – the Penguins are CERTAINLY a better team now and all they gave up was an UNCERTAIN draft pick (and Klinkhammer). With the primes of Malkin and Crosby fading, it’s time to win now and this trade is a great move in that direction, ESPECIALLY without giving up a young defenseman of any sort.

Perron arrived in Edmonton during a difficult time for the Oilers and he left Edmonton during a difficult time for the Oilers. This can be said about everyone who has joined and left the Oilers over the last 6ish years.

He had kind words to say on the way out:

What did those words actually mean though? Let’s break this down.

Part I:

“Thanks to the classy people of Edmonton for their support!”

  • classy people – “rabid, yet thoroughly depressed people”
  • Edmonton – “the place where hockey talent goes to die due to inept management”
  • their support – “not throwing my jersey onto the ice”

“Thanks to the rabid, yet thoroughly depressed people of the place where hockey talent goes to die due to inept management for not throwing my jersey onto the ice.”

Part II:

“@EdmontonOilers is a fun team to play for and hope it turns around #OilCountry”

  • @EdmontonOilers – the worst team in the league
  • fun team to play for – complete joke to even the players who play for it
  • hope – hahahaahahahaahahaahaha (autocorrected)
  • it turns around – it’s never going to change
  • #OilCountry – #SeeYaBitches

“The worst team in the league is a complete joke to even the players who play for it and hahahaahahahaahahaahaha it’s never going to change #SeeYaBitches”

All together:

“Thanks to the classy people of Edmonton for their support. @EdmontonOilers is a fun team to play for and hope it turns around #OilCountry”

=

“Thanks to the rabid, thoroughly depressed people of the place where hockey talent goes to die due to bad management for not throwing my jersey onto the ice. The worst team in the league is a complete joke to even the players who play for it and hahahaahahahaahahaahaha it’s never going to change #SeeYaBitches.”

Welcome to Pittsburgh, Perron!
