Last Game for the Pens:  Saturday, a 5-4 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.  Sidney Crosby scored his first hat trick since 2010, which says all you need to know about how his last couple of seasons has been derailed by injuries.  He added an assist on Matt Niskanen’s game-winning goal.

Last Game for the Oilers: Last night, a 4-2 loss to the Washington Capitals. Boyd Gordon and Will Acton scored for the Oilers.  Jason LaBarbera faced only 20 shots on the night.

Last Time These Two Teams Met:  October 9, 2011, a 2-1 shootout win for the Oilers.  Kris Letang scored his while of the season while Ryan-Nugent Hopkins scored the first of his career.  Brent Johnson stopped 34 of 35 shots for the Pens.  Devan Dubnyk stopped 33 of 34 for the Oilers.

Story of the Game:  Thanks to last year’s lockout and condensed schedule, the Penguins have not played the Oilers in two years.  Nail Yakupov is dressing for the first time in two nights.  The Pittsburgh crowd will also get to see a more developed Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

This could be a high-scoring game as the Penguins rank 3rd in the NHL in goals per game while the Oilers rank last in goals against.  Both of these teams have a potent power play with the Penguins ranked 2nd and the Oilers 10th.

Pens All-Time Record Against the Oilers:  26-35-4-1
