Pens Name Christopher Harner as Head Team Physician

The Pittsburgh Penguins have changed their medical team for the first time in 24 years. Dr. Charles Burke, who helped Mario Lemieux with his many health issues early on in his career, was let go by the Penguins in addition to his entire team of specialists. Dr. Christopher Harner, one of the founders of the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine, will be the new head team physician. Dr. Tanya Hagen and Dr. Dharmesh Vyas will complete the new medical team and will join Dr. Harner in helping out with his duties. For the first time in team history, one of those three doctors will travel with the team for road games to treat the players on the road. They will become only the second NHL team to have one of their own doctors on the road with the team.
