The Black and Gold has won five in a row with their 6-2 defeat of the Tampa Bay Lightning Sunday at PPG Paints Arena. Sidney Crosby is 18 points shy of 1,000 for his career as he comes into tonight’s matchup with 344 goals and 618 assists for 982 points in 740 games.

Washington is enjoying a six-game winning streak after their 4-1 victory Monday against the Canadiens at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Alex Ovechkin is also on the precipice of 1,000 career points with 999 on 544 goals and 455 assists in 879 contests.

This evening is the third meeting between these two Metro rivals. Each won their matchup on home ice. The Caps won the last get-together Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, 7-1 with centers Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie each collecting a pair of goals.
