GAME DAY REPORT: Game 15 – Pens @ Winnipeg

Published on February 15th, 2013

The Pittsburgh Penguins are coming off of an impressive 4-2 win against the Ottawa Senators after dropping both games of a home-and-home series by the score of 3-1 against the New Jersey Devils.

The game will be the first NHL game for rookie, Beau Bennett. Bennett is slated to skate on the third line with Brandon Sutter and Tyler Kennedy.

It also marks the first game for former Penguin, Eric Tangradi as a member of the Jets. Tangradi has some disparaging remarks about the Penguins organization after practice today.

“It’s kind of like seeing your ex-girlfriend at the bar the next night. Sometimes, I felt like I had a short leash out there. I felt like I was playing just not to make a mistake.”
- Eric Tangradi

Winnipeg leads the season series 1-0. In the first game of the season series, Jets goalie, Ondrej Pavelec gave up two first period goals to the Penguins, Sidney Crosby. However, Pavelec went on to play his best game of his career against the Penguins, and the Jets would score four unanswered goals to skate away with the 4-2 win. The game was an aberration for Pavelec, who usually plays poorly against the Pens. In his career, Pavelec is just 2-10-0 with a 4.56 Goals Against Average against Pittsburgh.

MILESTONES
Brooks Orpik will be playing in his 600th game with the Penguins. Just 21 games behind Ron Stackhouse for most games played all-time for the Pens.

Tonight’s game marks the four-year anniversary of Dan Bylsma taking over as head coach of the Pens.
