The Pittsburgh Penguins take on the New Jersey Devils tonight at the Prudential Center in the fourth and final meeting of the season. The Pens look to get back on the winning track after the Buffalo Sabres ended their winning streak, Tuesday night.
New Jersey has nothing left to play for but pride as they’re mathematically eliminated from qualifying for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The reigning Eastern Conference Champions have had a rough go of it as of late. They started the season battling the Penguins for the top spot in the Atlantic Division before injuries to Martin Brodeur and Ilya Kovalchuk sent their season into a downward spiral – one that was too much to overcome in a short season.
“It was a tough season. I think that with the lockout, waiting to start, then a few injuries to start the season – and the trade that caught me off guard completely, it hasn’t been a season I was expecting or would have scripted for myself.”
