Pens ink Kunitz to 2-year extension

The Penguins announced this morning that Chris Kunitz has been signed to  a 2-year contract extension beginning with the 2012-13 season and runs through 2013-14.  The deal is worth

$3.725 million per year.

After a 48 point year last season, the 32-year-old winger from Regina, SK has an assist so far this season.  Kunitz was part of the Penguins’ 2009 Stanley Cup run after being traded from Anaheim with Eric Tangradi for Ryan Whitney.

In 140 regular season games with Pittsburgh, Kunitz has 99 points (49G – 56A), 12 power play goals, and two shorthanded goals.
