Sidney Crosby will not play in the NHL All Star Game this weekend. Nor will he play in the Pittsburgh Penguins game following the All Star Break due to a lower body injury. Crosby is the second Penguin to pull out of the All Star Game this week. Evgeni Malkin also will not play in the event.

Missing All Star Games isn’t anything new for Crosby. He’s appeared in just one since joining the NHL.

@Jeffler with a solid tweet.

Crosby has been playing with the injury according to General Manager Jim Rutherford and will not be permitted to play in the January 27th game against the Winnipeg Jets per NHL Rules. He’s expected to miss about a week.
