The Pens are headed to Anaheim in search of redemption, they had been on a four game winning streak when they faced off against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night and unfortunately for the Pens the struggling Avalanche put an end to their winning ways and got their 4 game visit to the wild west off to a rocky start with the home team taking away the 3-1 victory.
The last time these two teams played it was the season opener and it was quite the roller-coaster game, the Pens had to recover after surrendering a 3 goal lead to the Ducks but they did eventual pull it back and got themselves the 6-4 victory.
A few milestone will be marked in Friday night’s game for a couple of former Ducks Kris Kunitz will play his 400th game for the Pens while reacquired defenseman Ben Lovejoy will play his 100th in the skating Penguin Jersey.
While the Pens seem to still be struggling with their identity, the Ducks know exactly who they are. They are the team currently leading the Pacific Division by 16 points and even losing starting goaltender Frederik Andersen didn’t even seem to faze the Ducks with rookie goalie John Gibson putting in an impressive 4-1-0 showing in Andersen’s absences.
After turning in what can only be described as a lackluster effort on Wednesday night the Pens are going to have to turn in a better effort if they want to have a fighting chance against league leaders the Anaheim ducks. TGIF…Let’s Go Pens
