NHL Cancels Games Through November 30th

The National Hockey League will not be giving thanks to their fans this Thanksgiving as the league announced today that all regular season games until November 30th have been cancelled due to the lack of a new collective bargaining agreement. 326 games were scheduled from October 11th until November 30th, which means that this cancellation will wash away 26.5% of the season. Last night was the NHL’s deadline for the NHLPA to accept their proposal in order to play an 82-game season. After the deadline passed, the NHL withdrew their offer that promised a 50-50 split of hockey-related revenues. The two parties have not met since last week when the NHLPA offered three counter proposals, which were eventually rejected by the NHL in ten minutes. If no progress is made in the next seven days, the league may cancel the Winter Classic and the All-Star Game. Stay tuned for the latest updates regarding the NHL lockout.
